2. Keep failing but learn from each failure.

Wake up early. A lot. Offer to help someone each day. Stop caring so much about what other people think. Stop worrying so much. Most of the terrible things that we think are going to happen, never do. Stop thinking that you are too old to do something. Stop thinking you are too young to do something.

Talk to someone each day about how you are feeling. Recognize your fears. Write them down, it removes a lot of the power that we give them. Expectations are resentments in the making. Be okay with asking questions.

Stop thinking you have to know everything. If you have a dog, take it for a walk each day. If you have a cat, pet it for a few minutes each day. Try not to use buzz-words unnecessarily. Compliment someone each day. Hold the door for the person behind you. Always thank the person who holds the door for you. Try to stay as consistent as possible. Those are the ones that I am so happy not to miss. Be on time. If you can, be early. Be a person of your word. A couple of times a day is more than enough for any of those.

If there is really an emergency, they will call you. Remove email from your phone. It will force you to engage more in real life. I know you love them and want them to have everything they want but trust me, you are doing them a major disservice in life if you give them everything they want. Return phone calls. Eat as little sugar as possible. Thinking about not doing something that you know you have to do is usually much harder and taxing than actually doing it.

Be humble. Have a purpose in life. Be honest. Make sure you learn from those mistakes… Try to treat everyone you meet the same way.

Be consistent, be humble. Be gracious. About a month ago I met with one of the most powerful men in media. I was meeting with him to get advice and he was meeting me to help me out he had nothing directly to gain from the meeting. I met him in the building he owns that takes up a city block in midtown Manhattan. He came out to meet me at the elevator and greeted me like I was the most important person in the world. He asked me if I wanted something to drink and instead of asking his assistant to get it, he went and got the water himself.

He never took another call or checked his phone during our meeting. He walked me to the elevator after our time together. I left with the best possible impression of this man and his company due to his humility and graciousness.

Experience things and savor time. Live for the moment and not the Facebook update. Always say please and thank you to anyone doing anything for you. Sometimes you can either choose to be happy or choose to be right. Always choose to be happy. Accept that things are exactly the way they are supposed to be at this exact moment. Acceptance is always the answer.

Forgive people. Read at least one book per month. Connect with two new people each week. Reconnect with one old friend each month. Breathe deeply and pay attention to your breathing at least once per day. Patience is a virtue. It goes beyond treating others with good manners and listening to them, although those are important elements of respect.

Respect is also about acknowledging differences in a cordial way. By showing respect, we acknowledge others and recognize the importance of treating others with integrity. You can respectfully disagree. But if you do this while treating the other person with dignity, you set the example of how you expect to be treated in return. Goals motivate us to stay on track. Start by writing your goals down.

Those who write down their goals and dreams are more likely to actually achieve them. What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five years? In 10 years? And what kind of person do you want to be then? Frame these goals positively -- as something you will do rather than something you will stop doing. Personal integrity is a cornerstone of who we are and what we stand for. Integrity is part of our moral foundation: the principles and ideas we value and hold dear. Integrity is your personal compass, and it will shape the kind of person you become over time.

Living with integrity means being true to your ideals. It means that your outward actions reflect your inner beliefs and values. It means making the choices that are necessary to live up to your standards. Make sure you take the time to understand what integrity means to you and how your decisions align with your values and vision for your life.

That fear can hold us back and, without realizing it, you may be stunting your growth personally and professionally. Allowing yourself to grow and evolve over time is a necessary part of life and part of the journey you are on. Be willing to take a chance and push yourself outside of your comfort zone, and you may be surprised at what you find. Always strive to keep learning new things -- education and experience are essential if you are to grow and become a well-rounded and better person. Community can be a geographical location where people live, play and work, but it can also be a virtual space where people connect through shared ideas, values, beliefs and needs.

Community provides us with support, giving us a feeling of inclusion and connection to other like-minded people. But it also gives us a way to give back, to help others and to share our own wisdom and knowledge. This includes volunteering and working with others within your community, helping to enrich the lives of those around you. Remember, this is an ongoing journey.

Our actions -- how we live, how we spend our time -- those things all add up. Recognize that not everything in life is linear. Sometimes we have to go backward to go forward. Along the way, we have to learn to appreciate what we have, to have gratitude for all life has given us. Remember to have some fun, and allow fun and happiness to be sprinkled throughout your day. Surprise yourself and others.
